Boat Ramps Closed
The Seabrook and Kemah boat ramps under the existing Clear Creek bridge will be fully closed beginning on February 13, 2019. Additionally, the parking lots immediately adjacent to these boat ramps will be closed on February 13, 2019. Currently there is no plan to re-open these boat ramps as part of the SH146 project. TxDOT and local agencies are evaluating alternative boat ramp locations.
TxDOT Construction Materials Staging
Be advised that TXDOT will be storing material for construction at the former Walgreen’s site. Additional materials (barriers, equipment) are being stored on the far north side of the City near the Subway / Shell station.
Previous CVS Site Under Demolition
The site where the old CVS used to be, at 2800 Bayport Blvd., is currently under demolition. CVS relocated right across the street to 2242 Repsdorph Road and has been open for business at their new site since May 2018. The good news is that McDonald’s has submitted plans to the City for relocation at the old CVS site.
Neptune Subs Demolition
TXDOT has started demolition on the Neptune Subs building this week. Neptune Subs closed for business in December of 2017 and has been missed ever since. The building’s iconic banners and signage along with the amazing staff from Neptune’s will always be with us in Seabrook.
Demolition of Seabrook Flowers and Hill’s Liquor Building
The site where Seabrook Flowers & Hill’s Liquor once occupied has now finished demolition. We are happy to announce that both businesses have relocated within the City and both are open for business. Seabrook House of Flowers has relocated to 2900 East NASA Parkway, while Hill’s Liquor has relocated to 1904 El Mar Lane.
Kwik Kar Demolition
Due to the SH146 highway expansion, another Seabrook business has been demolished. Kwik Kar Oil & Lube, previously located at 2170 Bayport Blvd., has finished demolition this week with currently no plans for relocation.
McDonalds Demolition
The demolition on McDonalds began this week. McDonalds is returning to Seabrook and will be located where the old CVS building was just off of East Meyer.
Life Storage
Life Storage opted to stay at their Seabrook location and remodel due to Right-of-Way Acquisition by TxDOT. The front part of the popular storage business has been demolished and the new store front is set further back from the highway.
