Life Storage opted to stay at their Seabrook location and remodel due to Right-of-Way Acquisition by TxDOT. The front part of the popular storage business has been demolished and the new store front is set further back from the highway.
Neptune Subs Demolition
Demolition has begun on the longtime iconic building, Neptune Subs. Known for their crazy discounts on Bald Monday, we will miss this unique building and all its charm.
Enterprise Demolition
TxDOT has begun the demolition on the old Enterprise Rental Car location. Enterprise Rental Car is still serving Seabrook and has relocated to the Miramar Shopping Center.
Tookies Burgers Demolition
It was a sad day for many in Seabrook as the iconic Tookies building was demolished prior to the Thanksgiving holiday. The green building had a unique charm and it is with a heavy heart that we had to see it go. Hubcap Grill is helping to fill our burger void and has been open now for a couple of months just off NASA Parkway next to the Valero and TASC building.
Laredo’s Demolition
The demolition for previous restaurant Laredo’s Tex Mex has completed. The business owner is currently looking for new sites to relocate to in Seabrook. More detail will be given when made available.
Vacant Businesses
As right-of-way acquisition has come to an end, businesses along the corridor are vacated. TxDOT now owns the property and is responsible for the demolition and upkeep of the property. The City of Seabrook is communicating with TxDOT regarding the properties and the need for mowing. You can view all acquired properties by visiting TxDOT’s Real Property Asset Map.
Walgreens Demolition Underway
The demolition at the former Walgreen’s site, located at 1902 Bayport Blvd., is also currently underway. The site should be cleared within the next 30 days. Walgreen’s has indicated that they are considering sites in the area for their relocation.
Valero/Angel’s Demolition
The demolition of the Valero gas station / Angel’s convenience store, located at 1933 Marvin Circle, is currently underway. Per TXDOT, only the underground fuel tanks are being pulled at this time, and the demolition of the building and site will continue once soil samples have been satisfactorily completed.
Walgreens Demolition to Begin Soon
The demolition for the Walgreens site previously located at 1902 Bayport Blvd. will begin on July 9, 2018. Walgreens permanently closed on October 24, 2017 due to the expansion of State Highway 146.
Sonic and Popeye’s Demolition Complete
The demolition for both Sonic and Popeye’s has been completed.
